Alison Wilson, Senior Support & Advocacy Officer at the MPS Society, explains how Fabry is inherited and highlights why family communication matters. Misdiagnoses of Fabry is very common and it can take up to 16 years to reach a correct diagnosis. Once a family becomes a "Fabry family" there are lots of aspects to consider, such as who could be at risk, what to say and who to talk to. Other questions may focus on the options of family planning and how to approach the subject with younger family members.
