Little Bus Big Ride

Share:

To celebrate their family business turning 100 years old, three brothers from Nantwich decided to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Their goal was to raise vital funds for three charities close to their hearts by driving a 1940's miniature bus 1000 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats.

Andrew, James and Will Emerton are the fourth generation of Emerton Roofing and they set out to use their resources to raise significant sums to help three children charities who carry out the most precious work:

  • Hope House Children’s Hospice

  • The Children’s Society

  • MPS Society

The 1m tall, 2.5m long bus was built in Brighton in 1948 and operated as a fairground attraction

They explained why they chose to raise money for these charities:

Every child and young person battling an illness or difficultly deserves to experience moments of joy, comfort and love during their journey. By donating to support these three charities, you are providing much-needed support, care, resources and research for these brave souls.

“Your contribution can help ease pain, bring smiles to their faces and create precious memories for them and their families. Your generosity can make a world of difference in the lives of many, offering hope and comfort in their darkest moments.”

The journey was predicted to take eight days at an average speed of around 12mph. Despite some challenges along the way, the three brothers smashed it, raising an incredible total of £32,165!

Our 1000-mile adventure represents so much more than just a bus ride. We hope our magical little vehicle can help bring care and support to those who need it the most. These charities are amazing at the work they do and we cannot thank everyone who has donated enough.
