This MPS Awareness Day we joined the IMPSN campaign in sharing the message It’s About Time which aims to raise awareness of MPS and the things our community need now. So, what is it about time for?
Recognition and understanding
It’s about time for understanding these symptoms are not typical and it’s not in our heads.
Early diagnosis and timely treatment
It’s about time medical professionals were trained to recognise early signs of MPS, with newborn screening included as standard, because early intervention is critical.
Access and equality
It’s about time there’s consistency in the availability of services, treatments and tests across the whole of the UK, so life-changing treatments get to children faster.
Support without bureaucracy
It’s about time that the issues associated with MPS were recognised - families shouldn't be required to constantly re-prove their needs to access disability benefits and support.
Pride and community
It’s about time to celebrate the MPS community’s strength, accept help and friendship and take pride in what makes them unique.
