The Big Give Christmas Challenge

You smashed it…twice!

Thanks to you, this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge has been nothing short of extraordinary. We are truly overwhelmed by your generosity as you didn’t just reach our initial target of £25,000, you exceeded it twice, raising an incredible £30,286 in just one week!

Your donations will make a real difference and we couldn’t be more grateful. It is only thanks to you that we can plan even more events for our community and we are looking forward to all the joyful moments that 2026 will bring.

We would also like to express huge gratitude to The Reed Foundation for championing our cause, to our wonderful pledgers for their unwavering support and to everyone who helped spread the word far and wide. This success is a reflection of your generosity and dedication and we truly couldn’t have reached this milestone without you.

The difference you are making

Emily, mum to Arabella who has MPS I Hurler, shared what matters most about joining our family days out:

The truly invaluable part is spending time with families like ours who are navigating this life of hospitals and medications, of uncertainty and complexity.

For Allison, the annual Weekend of Remembrance and Hope has been a great source of comfort, she said:

Yes, there are tears, how could there not be but there’s also laughter, warmth and such a special sense of understanding that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Mel explained why the Independent Adult Weekend makes such a difference to her:

Transitioning to adult services, I have noticed the disconnect from the peer group I used to enjoy at joint clinics. I appreciated being in contact with people my age from the MPS community.

Marianne and Sally talked to us about how community events are organised, the challenges they face and why they are so important:

The events provide a much needed balance. It's crucial that everyone has the opportunity to attend but we have to raise funds otherwise the events would not happen.
